Myth #1 - Eyelash extensions will make my natural lashes fall out...
FACT - Properly applied lash extensions can actually IMPROVE the health of your natural lashes!
The problem starts when eyelash extensions are NOT applied properly to individual lashes and instead are carelessly applied to multiple natural lashes at one time creating a clump of itchy, over-glued extensions and natural lashes. Since natural lashes grow at different rates, that clump of lashes is going to pull on neighboring young lashes and prematurely pull out a young lash while a mature lash is trying to shed. You can’t rush the growth cycle so it will take a while to recover from this damage as you wait for new lashes to grow in and become strong enough to accept a lash extension later.
Your own natural lashes have a 6-week growth cycle whereby they grow and shed naturally. A fresh, new lash is always growing in behind the lashes that have shed. Properly applied lash extensions should only be adhered to one individual natural lash and that extension will shed along with the natural lash when the time is right…when the new lash is pushing the old, mature lash out. ‘Fills’ to replace lost extensions/lashes should be scheduled every 2-3 weeks.
